Through the families generosity and infectious love of people they soon became my family as they embraced me as a son.... Larry was my friend and brother... Over the years we shared many wonderful times.... the Friday night dinners, Gnertz card games, beach music, table dancin' and a sip or two of Johnston Counties best.... Larry was partial to Apple, Me? I was a peach guy.
Larry was an exceptional home designer and had an eye for creativity and functionality while bringing value to his clients and his work was recognized by his peers in the "Parade of Homes". He was well respected and honest to a fault who would rather give than receive and generally did. But aside of his business life he was always mindful of his family and their well being.
What I will miss most of course is Larry.. not to mention his off the cuff humor and his uncanny ability to separate and break a sentence by interjecting a "dern" between words before completing his thought.
In this time of sorrow I reach out to all the family and hold your hand.
Love you Sally, Nora

Larry was a talented artist with many beautiful paintings. His artistic talent was evident in his career as a designer, builder and developer. His work will live on in the many beautiful and functional dwellings in NC that he designed and built. Thirty years ago he took a sketch that Crendell and I had made of a house that we would like to build. This was before the age of computer-generated blueprints. He turned our sketch into a workable blueprint with many improvements. The house is still beautiful and very functional. He also designed and built houses for his parents and his sisters. He had a heart of gold.
We are all heart broken and will miss him. I know for sure that he loved his family more than anything. He loved Mollie and Joanna. He loved his sisters Sally and Nora as well as his grandchildren, son-in-law, nieces and nephews. They are a very loving and welcoming family. I have always admired the way they make it a priority to get together often for family meals.
May God bless those he leaves behind. They will see him again someday.
I am so sorry to hear of Larry's passing. Know that my heart and my prayers go out to you during this undescribable time. I love you all!!
